As Liz broke up with Floyd during the summer, she is looking for ways to rebound and when Jerry Seinfeld confronts Jack, about a new marketing campaign which featured Seinfeld in all NBC shows, a chance encounter with Liz gets the much needed advice she needs. The first episode is a fitting parallel to the struggles of the show, as the show attempts to rebound from a poor viewership year as jack and liz keep saying, "this is our/my year". After winning a number of awards the producers were hoping to have a massive increase in ratings. Also during the TGS summer hiatus, Jenna becomes obese due to performing in the broadway show Mystic Pizza: The Musical and with the help of Kenneth, loses the weight.

  • Chuck

    Chuck

Chuck Bartowski is a socially awkward twenty-something who works as a computer expert at the Nerd Herd at his local Buy More (a parody of Best Buy's Geek Squad), a local electronics retailer (a CompUSA store was used), with his best friend, Morgan Grimes. Chuck's sister Ellie is a doctor who is constantly looking out for his best interests and wants to help him find a girlfriend. On the night of his birthday party, Chuck receives an e-mail from his former Stanford University roommate, Bryce Larkin, who is now a "rogue" CIA agent. When he opens it, an entire server of sensitive data — once only available to the United States government — called the Intersect, is subliminally embedded into his brain by way of a long series of images. Both the National Security Agency and the Central Intelligence Agency want the intelligence returned to them and dispatch agents of their own — Major John Casey and Sarah Walker — to retrieve that data.

  • Life

    Life

Life revolves around Detective Charlie (Charles) Crews, portrayed by British actor Damian Lewis, who is exonerated at the beginning of the series after originally being convicted for murder 12 years prior. Lewis choose to do the role after reading the script, in which he appreciated the character-driven nature of the story. Creator Rand Ravich immediately considered Damian Lewis for the part.

As part of his substantial settlement he is reinstated as a police detective and partnered with Dani Reese (Sarah Shahi), who is initially suspicous of and often annoyed by her new partner. She is a recovering drug addict and alcoholic, which is what attracted Shahi to the character: "I like the fact that she has a dark side and she has some demons that she needs to overcome", and she related in another interview that she's had some of the same experiences as the character.

  • My Name is Earl

    logo-my-name-is-earl

While hospitalized and under the influence of morphine, Earl hears Carson Daly talk about karma on TV and comes to the conclusion that his bad luck has been caused by his lifestyle. He decides to make a list of everything bad he has ever done, with the intention of making up for all of his mistakes and crossing the items off the list as he goes. Earl's first good deed, picking up garbage, leads to him finding his lost winning lottery ticket.

Karma is a recurring theme throughout the show, and its effects are shown not just on Earl, but also on other characters, such as Earl's ex-con friend Ralph, who ends up wanted by the police again after refusing Earl's offer to help him change his ways and trying to steal Earl's money. In some instances, Karma exists not only as a theme, but also a character that dictates Earl's actions. Earl will occasionally address Karma directly as if it were a deity or an otherwise omniscient and powerful being, and will (almost) always yield to whatever he perceives as its will.
